Songs for a Powercut

It's the Sunday night before my week off work.

Since Friday there's been three powercuts, the first of which kicked off at 5am Friday, which resulted in me leaving the house at 6:30am and using the gym showers in work on my lunchbreak. It's lovely living four miles from the nearest town, but powercuts seem to be a constant occurrence with the storms recently.

I'm sat in bed writing this and it's almost 9pm. I'm bundled in layers (thankfully the house isn't too cold tonight) with the cat by my side possibly wondering why everything is dark but no real care in the world.

I've got my bedtime lavender candle and my lantern lit in my room. Since I live in a limestone cottage in Wales, going without power doesn't entirely feel 'out of character' here. This house would've been around for maybe even a hundred years before electric became commonplace in British homes.

Naturally, I've made a playlist to pass the time.

This powercut is currently for maintenance work following the storm and it's scheduled to finish in half an hour. In the meantime, I've got snacks, the cat and music to romanticise the situation until the power comes back on... (and then I've no excuse to not get the washing done!)
